THE BALLAD OF THE IMMORTAL WARRIOR

From the caves of Earth and Fire,
To the tower of Water and Sky,

Arose the fallen angel,
The one who would not die.

Peter was his name,
And Seraphiel was his flame,

Contained in the mystic sword
Given him by the Lord

Who lived in the tower of Water and Sky.

He ascended into Heaven,
To fight among The Seven.

Seven dragons they did slay,
And the prophets all did say,

"Never has a man become so strong,
By a friend who he did wrong."

A lifetime full of sin,
So his cleansing could begin

For he was one who fell
Into the fires of Hell

And he was then reclaimed,
Though his own heart he had maimed

By his one true soul mate,
Who rescued him from his fate.

Seraphim Rose was her name,
And Peter was her flame.

She took the shape of birds,
And mighty were her words.

She had so much to give,
For Peter she would live

Their love had been so strong,
For they had lived alone so long.

She bore him up from Hell
To the sky from which he fell

So he could earn his names,
Saved from eternal flames

That for ages tortured him so
And sank his spirit so low

When he saw this girl,
His secret did unfurl

To open up his heart,
So together they could start

To live a life of dreams
And forget his tortured screams.

Never again saw his friend
Though his heart in time did mend

For he had Seraphim Rose
To protect him from his woes

For she could be at last,
His shield against the past.

He never shed another tear
Nor did he learn to ever fear

The consequences of his fate,
For a love he shared too late

All fades into the past,
For this joy he knew would last...

...Forever.
The first, last and only rhyming poem I have ever written. And it's about my story. I think that is pretty awesome. I wrote this at 4:30 in the morning when I was supposed to be asleep. One of those rare flashes of insight that occurred at a ghastly hour for no readily apparent reason.

Perhaps it could be expanded into a longer epic poem, or it could be set to music? Who knows.
